Don’t believe that moody sky, it was actually a lovely day! I met Alex, James and their pooch and we went for a wander round Hengistbury Head for their pre wedding session and talked all things wedding and netflix!
Hengistbury Head is one of my fave places to go as it has so many options for photos, the beach, the cliff, the wood… it’s just gorgeous! If you haven’t been, deffo take a look next time you’re in Dorset.
Today we have Liz & James at a GORGEOUS Dorset beach for their pre wedding session. We’re so lucky in Dorset to have so many beautiful beach spots to choose from but Lulworth Cove is definitely a favourite of mine, it’s got the perfect mix of backdrops to make for an interesting pre wedding session! Wonder if you can get married there…
Anyway, Liz and James were perfect fun as you can see, I’m especially proud of getting James smiling as he apparently hates smiling in photos – I don’t let people get away with that hey nonny no no. So we played some games, had a nice chat, had lots of laughs and generally got excited about their wedding!
Here are the fruits of my labour – hope you like them! I actually had a Freudian slip there and put “hope you like me” #needy. Anyway – look out for their wedding photos coming up on the blog soon too.
Elise and Simon are the loveliest smiliest couple and I loved working with them SO much through their wedding planning. Elise is from Australia and met Simon when she came to England to travel, both beach lovers, Christchurch Highcliffe Castle Beach was an obvious choice for their pre wedding session.

For today’s session we went to Throop Mill which is an old disused watermill on the River Stour. It’s apparently a very popular place to fish (I know that as I saw Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer go fishing there on their telly programme… bit gutted they weren’t there on this day). We just had a little wander down the river, stopping off at particularly picturesque spots until it started to rain and then we headed back. Not before the kids started a grass fight and I got covered though!
I met Vanessa & Sian when they were wedding planning and I immediately knew I wanted to be part of their wedding. I just love them both. They’re so in love with each other and you just feel really happy being around them! When they suggested bringing the kids along to the pre wedding session I couldn’t wait to meet them as I knew they’d be just as ace!
I try and make my pre wedding sessions fun to take the pressure off you feeling like you’re “having your photo taken”. This session was slightly easier on that front because the kids were there and the focus wasn’t permanently on Vanessa & Sian. I play little games and give you prompts to hopefully provoke a natural smile or a laugh to get the best photos. My aim is that then when you look back at the photos you remember the fun you were having, not that time that photographer stood in front of you and told you to smile! Hopefully that comes across in the photos… let me know what you think!
