The perfect family photo session location – The Ings Family at Kingston Lacy, Blandford Forum, Dorset. If you go down to the woods today…. 😉
So you’re thinking of having a family photo session, but you don’t know where to go or what you would like photographed… well luckily for you, you can put all of your trust in me to organise the best and most personal experience for your session! 🙂
When Sophie contacted me about this time last year, she wanted to give her lovely hubby a gift voucher for a family photo session for his birthday – we like to call it the gift of memories over here at Buttons Photography Towers… it’s just me and my cat really but that’s what we call it nonetheless and I suppose while we’re clarifying it’s not so much a tower, more a pile of cushions on the sofa… ANYWAY – hubby promptly broke his leg so we eventually got around to doing the session in Autumn last year when he was fully fit again. Any time of year has its benefits for a family photo session, for Autumn you get those gorgeous Autumnal colours that are so rich and interesting. As we’re approaching spring we will be seeing the start of beautiful blooms, the days are starting to get longer and the sun starts to shine meaning jackets are off and bare legs can emerge! I can’t wait!!
As for how we decide on the session for you, well you do have to put a bit of work in I’m afraid!! Once you’re booked, I will send you a questionnaire, you need a bit of time for it and your most reflective and sentimental mood so best to get a glass of wine! I ask lots of questions that will give me a little insight into the lives of your family and helps me dream up the perfect location and plan based on the things that you love to do and the places that are familiar to you.
The Ings family love Kingston Lacy among other places but we settled on this one and I’m so glad we did. Kingston Lacy is a National Trust property and Littlebird have an offer on at the moment where you get 2 months free if you join before the end of February 2016! What a great deal! National Trust properties are so much fun for everyone, lots of lovely outdoors to explore and each one is different. Although every one I’ve been to so far has an amazing coffee shop to get a lovely cuppa and slice of cake at the end of your big walk! Mmmmmm cake….
Back to our session – one of the things I discovered through my little questionnaire is that the kiddos love to hunt for bugs and so I made sure that one of the things I captured them doing was just that as it’s these little things that you wouldn’t normally think to photograph on your family day trips but in years to come that one photograph of those little tubby toddler hands holding out a ladybird about to fly will bring you right back to today. And you’ll be so glad you did.
Anyway – here are the lovely Ings family, enjoying their gorgeous Autumnal walk at Kingston Lacy, bug hunting, tree jumping, log hopping, tunnel peeking, tree valley racing and Mummy/Daddy hugging. The makings of a perfect family photo session.
